Rebel imaginings: street art in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Street art in the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta is popular, dynamic and vibrant. Like other cities such as Buenos Aires, it has become something a tourist attraction its own right. This article examines street visual phenomenon that activates political change potential three ways. First, provokes critical consideration ordinary people who pass by walls surfaces every day. Second, suggests alternative futures within context achieving social justice redress past wrongs.
